Dennis P. Collins


Dennis Collins is the father of a law enforcement officer, a longtime advocate and volunteer leader in the policing profession, and a business leader with more than 42 years of experience in the radio and television industry.  

He served as Senior Vice President/General Manager for Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial Media in Miami (FL) for 30 years prior to his retirement in 2011.  During that time, Dennis was instrumental in forming a live nationally syndicated radio show called “Copnet,” which aired for nine years in over 100 markets nationwide.  It was the first syndicated show of its kind to be hosted by active police officers and it received three Achievement in Radio Awards. 

In 2012, Dennis formed a consultancy, Sales Boss Rx, which aims to help clients find better, healthier, more effective ways to communicate and to operate their organizations.  In addition to his consultancy, Dennis is a volunteer with the Orange County (FL) Sheriff’s Office, where he is attached to the Human Resources Division Career Development Unit.  He has trained some 1,500 sworn personnel, civilian employees and 9-1-1 communications operators in such areas as conflict resolution, social styles and effective communications.  Dennis is also an active member of the FBI Citizens Academy Speakers Bureau and delivers more than a dozen speeches a year on the issue of cyber crime.

Dennis is a graduate of the Miami-Dade Police Citizens Academy, the FBI Miami Citizens Academy and the Orange County (FL) Sheriff Citizens Academy.  He has also served as a former board member of the Miami-Dade Police Citizens Advisory Council—Intracoastal District, the Wizard of Ads Business School in Austin (TX), and the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Burn Center. 

Dennis currently serves on the board of directors for Modern City Entertainment, a Miami-based television and movie production company.  In his work with Modern City Entertainment, Dennis served as Associate Producer for two 90-minute documentaries chronicling the heroic service and sacrifice of America’s law enforcement professionals:  “Heroes Behind the Badge;” and “Heroes Behind the Badge—Sacrifice and Survival.”

Dennis is also the proud father of a 14-year veteran of the Orange County (FL) Sheriff’s Office, Sgt. Elizabeth Sovacool.
